Barts Chelsea: A Touch of 20s Class

Bugsy Malone style 1920s speakeasy… for grown-ups

By Kim Kerr-Dearsley

One of London’s quirkier watering holes, Barts Chelsea is a 1920s style bar located on prestigious Sloane Avenue that proudly markets itself as ‘London’s worst kept secret’. Supposedly run by mafia kingpin ‘Uncle Bart’ (well, that’s their story and they’re sticking to it), stepping into Barts is a little like entering the world of Bugsy Malone’s Fat Sam’s Speakeasy… only for adults.

The brainchild of Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling – the duo behind Mayfair’s wonderful Mr Fogg’s – this awesome food and drink emporium is always fun. From its prohibition-era costumed bartenders to its sumptuous décor, the ambience is certainly conducive to lingering late into the night (or morning) as you sip a cocktail or two while enjoying regularly scheduled live entertainment.

Barts is also a great place to host a party or celebration, and offers a variety of fun packages for Christmas and other special occasions.
